Another Wednesday, time for a peek at each other's desks and projects! If you would like to learn more, just go to http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/p/what-is-woyww.html. Maybe you could join our little group!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is warm and happy, I know Julia is! As she is soaking up the sun, we are awaiting yet another big storm, freezing rain and snow. Can't wait! (NOT!)

Here is my desk this morning:

My little project yesterday was making these little houses from underpapers and scraps. It was fun! As you can see I'm still working on my journal and have been all week, adding some new pages and working on some older pages.

Here are some of the little houses, with a little pile of pieces to put together. I made these from a Pinterest tutorial by dianesmixedmediaart called Happy House Tutorial. I still have some finishing touches to do to make them "happy"!

Here are the pages I have worked on this week. Some have had embellishments added to them, so you may have seen them before.

I used a Jane Davenport face stencil for this page. I've had these a long time but never used them before. I think I need some practise! Hopefully I will be able to fix this page...

I added the lines to this one

The bird is my own stencil

I added the leaves to this one

I tried another Jane Davenport stencil, it looks a bit better this time

And a couple of pages I have filled in - a list of the pile of "to read" books in my bedroom...

and...

That's all my pages so far for today. Next week I should be getting some more stencils from Meghan, so I will have more to play with!

I envy all those who can sit in the sun on holiday right now, it is cold and miserable here, February seems so long because of the dreary weather we get. My Granddaughter Jasper has it made though!
Here she is in her parent's happy place - Costa Rica!

Hope everyone has a lovely week wherever you are!

Hello everyone! Happy Day-After-Valentines-Day! I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday, I know we did! We went for lunch out, with a promise for a nice Valentines Day dinner on Saturday.

And on the 12th, it was my Mother's 88th birthday!

You'd never know it though, she doesn't look a day over 70! And still as busy as ever!

So now to my desk this morning.

Still working on my journal pages every day - so much fun! And making bits and pieces from stencils and stamps along the way to add to my pages. These 3 stencil shapes are from Meghan Quinlan, as are many of my stencil shapes. The bird is one I made a few years ago.

So here are the pages I made this week, or added to from last week:

All the stencil shapes are Megan's, except for the wave. Many of these pages will probably have more added to them as I go along.

This one is all Lavinia stamps, I love this one! I did put 2 phrases on this page, maybe it will show up again later.

Here's a kitty pic for you, after buying who knows how many toys for these two - what is their favourite? (PS-it's a clean one!)

I think Inky finally let Mittsy have it...

Well that's it for me! The kitties say "meow, when is Spring coming?" and I say have a great week!

I was all ready to write my blog last week, and couldn't download (upload?) any photos. Grrrr. So I tried again on Thursday and was successful, so I thought I would combine the two weeks into one.
Warning - long post!

Feb 1, 2023

Happy February! The longest (shortest) month of the year. It just seems to go on forever! We have had a lot of snow recently, pics to come, but first my desk:

After finishing my new art journal signatures I worked in my Donna Downy journal and my little red journal using fodder from the past week. The little cat dies were a Christmas present - so cute!

Here is the page from the little red journal, the background is underpaper from previous fodder making.

I finally (started before Christmas) finished my signatures for my new art journal from Megan Quinlan's workshop! It took a lot of practice, but after getting through 12 giant pages I think I finally got the hang of it. So I cut them and here they are piled in 3 signatures:

Next step - the cover.

And as promised...Snow!...our bird feeders...

and our front yard. The snow has pretty much buried our fence.

Here is a puzzle for today:
Can you find Inky and Mittsy?

And now for Part 2: Feb. 8, 2023

Happy 18th Blogiversary to me! As of last Sunday, I have been writing this blog for 18 years! It's hard to believe! But if it weren't for this wonderful group, I probably would have given up on it years ago, so Thank You All!!!

My desk this morning:

I had a very busy week this week working on my new journal from Megan Quinlan's JIYA workshop. Time just flew by!
First I completed my cover, except for some text, which I'm sure will come to me at some point.

The face was made with a stencil - Jane Davenport I think? I bought these years ago and had never used them. I used the same stencil, flipped, on the page I am working on on my desk. Once I finished the cover I was excited to start working inside, and this is my first page:

Then I bounced around inside, preparing pages with Megan's prompts. This was how I did my travel journals, I don't know why I never though to do it with a regular journal! Here are the pages I did this week:

In this one I used my new mouse choir stamp from our own Tracy Easson!

The pages are now ready to write on, or add things to as I go along, and I will continue to add more and more pages as I go with her prompts.

If you got this far you deserve a star! Thank you for hanging in!

Have a great week,

Hello everyone! It's so nice to be here and feeling better. I'm almost back to normal except for a little bit of coughing and rapid loss of energy, but that's OK, I seem to be getting a few things done anyway. First, my desk. Not very active today, but I had just finished putting tacky glue on the backs of 2 sets of letter stamps which can be time consuming! The date stamp on my desk used to be on a roller, but we now have surpassed the last year on the stamp so I cut it off and thought it my look good as a regular stamp with all those numbers, so it has had it's tacky glue and is now drying. While tidying this week I found  a stamp that I had thought I had lost forever, over a year ago. But when I lifted the phone book I had been using as under papers, there it was, stuck to the bottom! Never give up!

I got the Tim Holtz Bird die for my birthday, looking forward to playing with it!

Here is the view behind my chair, all of this stuff had been sitting on a floor in a big tipsy pile, hard to find anything, and now it looks like this! Much better!

When my DD stayed for week at the beginning of January, she needed space in her room to work, as she worked from home all week, so there was a lovely expanse of new desk! I am using it to stencil my journal pages, I have 2 papers left and then I can start cutting them up. It's very handy to have this second workspace!

A couple of weeks ago Mittsy knocked over my precious pottery creche, and now I am slowly gluing it back together.

Hopefully it will be as good (almost) as new.

I will leave you with a photo of my granddaughter, just settling in for a nice read...did I mention she was advanced for her age? She looks excited to start this great book!

Well that's it for me today, we are hunkering down once again waiting for "significant snowfall", we will believe it when we see it. Sometimes it peters out before it gets to us!

Mittsy and Inky say "meow" and I say have a great week! I can't believe it's almost February already!

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. I was in Toronto for awhile having Christmas with the family, and then, for the first 2 weeks of 2023 I was very sick. I think I caught a bad cold which went straight to my chest while babysitting Jasper for the first week of January. She was just getting over it (not covid) and somehow I picked it up. No one else got sick, but I am just now recovering. Needless to say, I haven't done any art since before Christmas, and this is my desk this morning:

What a mess! I am slowly trying to organize (again - seems to always happen in January) all the stuff that has accumulated on the floor behind my chair, which was just piled up, ready to topple at any moment. So I thought carts on wheels might be a good solution:

I like this because I can move things around. I may get one more small cart like the one in the photo. The first metal cart is one I had hanging around and forgot that I had, so I pulled it out. Not perfect, but holds my big box of stencils and misc. on top within my reach, so good. I have to figure out the skinny drawers below the top section. They may just hold collage fodder.

So this is what is next once all the tidying is done:

I have only finished that top piece for my new art journal from my class from Megan Quinlan. Hopefully I will have more to show next week.

Here is my Mom having lunch with me at our favourite Vietnamese restaurant called Mekong. It is my favourite day of the week because I get to have lunch with this wonderful person. We go every week, but hadn't gone since before Christmas, so this was a very special day, getting back to "normal".

So that's it for me, hopefully will be fully recovered by next week! Mittsy and Inky are watching the Snow Buntings at the feeder from their nice warm perch inside, away from the snow and freezing rain. Have a great week!
