Journaling!

I have changed the way I journal. Again! I have been writing a journal daily on my computer since August 2013, and found it was rather strange to just repeat and repeat by journaling my life in my art journal as well. So, now my life is private, and I have joined two journaling groups, as I think I mentioned in my last post. I am enjoying following their prompts, although I haven't followed all of them.
Here's the first one:
The prompt was -Make a flap on your flap. So, 2 flaps. OK. I had never really done this before! I found a page in an old art journal that I am actually using for the purpose of ripping out and incorporating them into journals or Project Life. That was my first flap, and i just went from there. Earlier this week I got some lovely "Happy Mail" with a tag saying "Smile" The tag was mostly blank, so I could add to it, and that was my second Flap!

I am also only using the right side of my Moleskine watercolour book, and writing how I did the page on the left side. This also allows me to be always working on a flat surface. So this is everything all closed up:

And now my small flap (the tag) is opened:

The large flap is opened to reveal 2 new pages:

The left page - about friendship and meeting one of  my BFs at Starbucks every week. The vellum quote got all wrinkled when I used Gel medium on it. Don't do that!

The page on the right is about Valentines Day! This time I used my Xyron to adhere the vellum. That's the way to go!

I really enjoy technique prompts. I really don't like writing prompts!

The other Journal prompt group is called Journal52. This week's prompt was "Found Poetry" I have seen this before, but never done it. I'm terrible at poetry. But I tried! here it is:

I realized I need an "of" for it to make sense, so I added it. Maybe it makes sense. I don't know. Poetry often doesn't make sense to me!

So that's it for today! Thanks for looking!

WOTWW-Feb 5

Another Wednesday! And this is a SPECIAL DAY for my blog - it's 9 years old today!!!!

Hard to believe! Anyway, it nicely fell on WOYWW (click the Paisley sidebar button if you don't know what this is), so here is my room as I walked into it this morning:
A mess! At least I have been busy!

Here I am working on one of my October PL pages -oh, BTW - I started a NEW blog just for PL, if interested go here

I opened my journal so you can see my last page - an abstract page for my Journal52 FB group (you can see the stencil I used in the first photo)

And I turn around. . .oh joy! Another snowstorm! Aren't we lucky! (Only 42 days, 11 hours, 46 minutes and 14..13..12..10 seconds until Spring!)

So that's it for today! Thanks for looking! And if you are interested in PL, have a look at my other blog (birthday will be Feb 4 - how convenient!)

2nd Post in One day - I'm on a Roll!

This is my first post for The Documented Life Project.
The challenge was to find something on Pinterest to inspire you. I love tags, and I saw this post today, and I did it! The tutorial is by Shelly Kuck from Splitcoast Stampers. I loved how she did the collage stamping on tags, and I thought it would be great as a journal page!

I realized afterwards that I didn't do the ribbon correctly, but that's OK. Also I used Dylusions spray instead of rubbing with Distress Ink at the end. I like how it turned out!

Thanks for visiting!

Journal Pages

Hello! Happy Groundhog Day!! My daughter and her Dad watch "Groundhog Day" every year, whether they are together or not!  Ontario's Wiarton Willie emerged from his cozy den this morning and immediately spotted his shadow, which according to groundhog folklore means Canadians can expect six more weeks of what has already been a long, cold, snowy winter. Joy.

On that note, I have two Journal pages for you. I have slightly altered how I do my journal (I always seem to do that - I'm all over the place!) The journaling I'm doing now is following some prompts that come up in the several journaling groups I'm in.

As I mentioned in my last post, Persevere is my word for 2014:

On my Journal 52 group the prompt for 2 weeks ago was "What makes you smile?" Well, my new 6mo old kitten, Inky does! Everyday!

I'm starting a new journal prompt today from The Documented Life Project which I will post when it's done!

Thanks for looking!

WOYWW - Jan 29

January has flown by! Or maybe is just stuck in a pile of snow - which has now completely obliterated our fence. Beautiful, though very very cold!

I have been keeping to my 15 minutes a day in my stamping room, which has been very nice! Today is What's On Your Workspace Wednesday! Just click on the Paisley button on my sidebar to find out what this is! An join us too!

So here is what this morning looked like on my workspace:

My journal page that I am currently working on:

My finished journal page from last week:
I "borrowed" the word Persevere as my word for 2014 from another journalist - but I can't remember her name at the moment.

My Tim Holtz stencils - I have them all clipped together

My new stamps from Michael's, thought they might work for Project Life and journaling!

Never did find my lost "E", so I just went out and bought the letter set again (It was on sale even!), so now I have an "E" and doubles of all the other letters which I am sure will come in handy.

I joined 2 FB pages this week :"Journal 52", and "A Stand For Art-Journaling"

Thanks for looking!

WOYWW

Thank goodness for WOYWW (What's on your Workspace Wednesday) - it a least reminds me to blog every once in awhile! Just click on the fancy button on my sidebar to find out what this is all about!
So, one of my New Years resolutions was to work in my stamp room for at least 15 minutes a day. Doesn't matter what I'm doing in there, as long as I'm there. For some reason, even though all I think about all day is art, art seems to be on the bottom of my list. Ok, I'll do some art when I finish this, or I'll do it after this and that, whatever. I want to put it at the TOP of my list! So this week I started - 15 minutes a day. Two days in so far so good! Luckily I was reminded in my emails about WOYWW and I ran right up and took some photos. Here they are:

I was working on my Journal, stamping my words with clear stamps. I went from the word LIVE to the word BEFORE. In that moment between the 2 words, my E disappeared. Gone. How does this happen?? Has this ever happened to you? I took out my flashlight and went over every square inch of my workspace - no E. I checked my clothes. No E. Mind you it's clear, but I didn't feel it either. I asked to Universe to bring it back. Will check again today to see if it shows up! Strange. . .

Thanks for visiting!

WOYWW Dec 19

Hello all of you in the middle of Christmas Frenzy! I did manage to get a few cards out this year, but the 3 I have left will probably have to wait until next year! It never fails, no matter how busy or not busy I am, Christmas always sneaks up on me!  I'm working on my daughter's present (Caitlin - if you are reading this - STOP!)
which will probably take me until the very minute she shows up at my door on Monday! So here's what's on my desk this morning:

My new Project Life Box from Michaels

The inside, full of smaller boxes, some from Michael's, some from the Dollar Store. When I bought the ones from the Dollar Store, I thought I would be able to take all the insides out. But I can't, so they will be used for bits and pieces.

The Michael's boxes are perfect to hold both sizes of cards.

We also got a new KITTEN! I know, what a silly time to get a kitten, with the tree and all, but I fell in love, what can you do? And she's hardly noticed the tree, so I think we're good. The story behind this kitten is that she was found inside a box, in the rain, with another kitten, thrown away. So sad! BUT the twist is, that when I was about 10 and at Summer Camp, I found a kitten tied up in a box, and thrown in the woods. Of course, I adopted her - my first cat (of many!) BOTH of the kittens, past and present, were pure black. So now I have a new "Inky" (the name of my first cat) and I'm sure we'll both grow old together!

Inky #2

Inky #1, me at 12

Well, that's all for me! Next Wednesday is Christmas! We'll all have to share any crafting things Santa brought us!

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

Blast From the Past - 2007 to be exact!

When I was putting up my decorations around the house I found this Fatbook from 2007! ByHand artists are from a Yahoo Group that I belong to, connected to this wonderful website: Quietfire Design

Here are all the wonderful pages!

This one is mine! The circle turns!

If anyone who made one of these pages would like to be identified, please let me know and I will add your name! Some people don't want to be identified so I left off the names. I have a few more blasts from the pasts to share another day!

Have a wonderful day!

WOYWW

Here it is, another Wednesday. I missed last Wednesday due to computer troubles (NEVER install something that is not exactly from where it should be from - I installed the 1st version of Firefox that I saw, and was infected with over 2000 malware. $90 later, they are all gone. Be aware is my message!)

So here is what my craft room looked like this morning:
The big box is my new Project Life storage box.
The cards on top are drying.

I like using a telephone book as my scrap paper. I spent last night making 5 new Christmas cards. Actually my first Christmas cards of the season. Maybe I'll make some more before Christmas!

 The card I made.
I got a new scallop circle punch from Michael's at 50% off, so I wanted to use it.

Have a great week!
