July 10-13

here are my latest journal pages

The green border is a stamp I made with bits of unmounted stamps that I had cut off.

The ticket stub is from the new Johnny Depp movie Public Enemies. I can't remember where the mad hatter came from, but it was on a collage sheet with the "poison" sign

The woman's body is not checkered, it just scanned like that! The butterflies are a transparency from Altered Pages

July 8 and 9 pages

Two more pages - at this rate my comp book will be full by August!

I used punchinella to make the black grungy dots

I do love this page! I used Tim Holtz Stencil, tapped over it with a
white paint dauber. Love those things! My favorite group is a Goth Rock
group called Within Temptation. Never would have thought a 55 year old
would be into Goth Rock! Maybe I'm reliving my childhood,
maybe I would dress all in black and dye my hair if I were 14 again. . .LOL!
I've also been using Distress ink on the edges of my
background papers - and adding swirls-I love the look!

July 6-7 pages

Here are my pages for July 6 & 7

I used a Tim Holtz mask, first I sprayed with a mister colour, but it didn't work well, I got a lot of seepage under the mask -too watery, i dried it off and repositioned the mask and used my black paint dauber. I like how it all turned out!

This isn't one of my favourites. I need some new magazines
to cut up, I'm very tired of all the images I don't use!
But I do like highlighting certain words by printing the word on
another scrap of paper.

July 4 & 5 pages

Two more pages from my Comp Journal-

July 4 prompt was to tell about a trip taken with family of or loved one

July 5th prompt was what would you do to be a tourist in your own town?

I also have my Bird ATC for my AB Canada group, we send another person the ATC and they create an altered book page with it.

This one is dark, kind of Poe-ish, with a diamond for an eye

July 2 & 3 journal pages

Two pages today: July 2 prompt was do you remember getting your license?

July 3 prompt was what do you need in the mornings to get you going?

I left the left side blank to fill in at the end of the day.

July 1 page

Since I am trying to make 1 page a day in July, I will probably be posting it everyday! I'm in Kelly Kilmers Journaling group, and she has given prompts for paint, collage and subject. Today's subject prompt was what are you wearing, and what do you like to wear the most?

Kelly's prompts are for a single page, but since I like to do 2 page layouts, I will do the right side as per her prompts, and the left side will be a complimentary page with personal journaling on it. So I matched the top right and bottom left layering of background paper, and continued the diamonds from the paper on the right. The man in the photo is David Navaronne, I've always thought he was incredibly sexy!! Could almost be Johnny Depp! Those eyes! I've done a bit more journaling on the left side since this was scanned.

New Journal Cover

Here is the cover for my new Composition Journal. I'm trying something fun this month, I joined a journaling class with Kelly Kilmer. I'm looking forward to starting today! My last journal lasted 2 1/2 years, but I certainly didn't journal daily. This one may not last quite as long (if I keep it up everyday that is!)

Rolodex Swap

I have finished my cards for the Byhand Rolodex Quotes Swap. I did it in "serendipity" style. I know there's a new name for this, but I can't remember what it is! I decorated a page, then cut out the Rolodex shapes from it, then added my quote and extras. So they are all the same, but all different!

I used Ranger distress inks, Hero Arts script, Stamper's Anon. and gel.a.tins "Spiral Symphony" (one of my favorite set of stamps). I generated the quote on the computer, and the raised dots are all Pebeo Metal Touch. The hearts and stars are all grunge paper shapes by Ranger.

Art Journal Pages

Here are my latest Art Journal Pages. I do these in a Composition Book. I am almost finished with this one, I will be starting a new one July 1st. This one went from Nov.14, 2007 to June 2009.

I really like the colours on this page! She is looking so
longingly at those cookies, but can't have them! (story of my life!)

Mother's Day stamps! The black dots were made with a
Ranger Paint Dauber, that was dry. I was trying to re-vitalize
it and got these grunge spots, so I used them!
All the stamps are Paper-Artsy

Thought I would try some Altered Pages images on this page (right side).
The hand is a rubbing from a brass door knocker
I found at a garage sale.

I loved this face made with coffee grounds!
There are teeny lined letters and
big letters. I can't even read the teeny lined,
but I don't like the size and chunkiness
of the big letters.

Michael Jackson tribute page. I may add some personal
thoughts on this page later on.
The glove flips back for a short biography.

Altered Book Page

In reading back over my posts, I see I promised an Altered Book page and never delivered. Here it is!

This is the ATC Daphne sent to me. . .

Ans this is what I did with it. A bit of a mix of Chinese and Japanese, I hope no one minds!

I have another AB page to do for a swap, and some Rolodex cards to get busy with. I'll show them as soon as they're done!

It's Been Awhile. . .

I've been busy with work the past month, and really haven't had time for much art. I'm finishing off a Journal, and I'll post the final pages soon. But I have done a few pages in my Moleskine, and one is a tribute to Michael Jackson. I was so sad to hear that he had died. He was a genius in the music/dance world, and I have always admired him. I feel he was an "innocent" and that a lot of people took advantage of that. He never had a chance to be a child, and the public took that away from him as an adult. He was probably a tortured soul.

Here is my MJ page:

Not a great drawing, but a little resemblance I think! It was the thought that counted!

Here are the other 2 pages I managed to do in June:

My friend Martha and I went to the City Park one Saturday morning, and saw a marching band!

I also drew this Martello Tower, very old, that guards the harbour. You can tell it's been a long time between drawings - the tower isn't really skewed!

I hope to get some Comp Journal pages up this weekend. Then I hopefully can start some ART!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there! I can't be with my beautiful daughter today, but I can be with my wonderful mother! My DD will visit next week for a combined Mother's Day and her early Birthday (23rd! Hard to believe!)

Here is my mom's MD card for this year (we both love chocolate, but don't eat it!)

And here is another Journal Page- I seem to be taking a week or two to complete one page, that's how boring my life is!

I'm almost finished with my latest ATC altered book page for ABC Canada. I will post as soon as it's done!

Bread Art

Someone sent me a great link to a wonderful cause - Bread Art! If you make some art on a piece of "toast" 1$ will be donated to feeding hungry people in America. I have made three so far! Check the last one I made at this link. To see more of mine, just do a search for Lindart. Go to this link to make your own! Just click on Workshops and there you are! Have fun!

Easter Day

I was a bit "maudlin" on Easter Day, missing my DD terribly, remembering all the Easters we had together when she was little. I have all the EDM #s in a box, when I don't know what to draw, I pull out a number and draw what it says. I pulled out #2 - draw a lamp. So I drew one of my MIL's lamps. I love these lamps, they are very old, the shades have gold thread in them, though I couldn't figure out how to make it look like gold. I decide to put in all the surrounding bits too, so on the left is a painting that my Mom did of me and my DD, on the right is a painting from Singapore. There are two photos of DD as a child on the table the lamp is sitting on, and the chair is also one from my MIL. Lots of memories in this little drawing! If you want to see the whole of the painting of me and my DD, look here.

so - although I enjoyed drawing, I'm still a bit maudlin. . .

March Journal Page

I don't seem to be working as much in this journal since I started my moleskine journal, I guess that's to be expected, as I only have so much time! This month's challenge on Michelle Ward's Crusade No. 30 is called "Cat Got Your Tongue?" and is about writing on your journal pages. I have no problem with that! My pages aren't finished until I write all over them. The journaling often has nothing to do with the images on the page, but sometimes it does. I even journal on my drawings and paintings!

Another Moleskine page and some cards. . .

I seem to be averaging about one moleskine page a week, better than none I suppose! A few years ago I drew my DD in this same chair -it was horrible! I think I've improved a bit!

My 2007 drawing of DD

yesterday's drawing of same chair, different person! I see the perspective on the chair is still off -something to work on!

Some new cards for Altered Pages Kit

I have designed some new tag cards for Altered Pages, if you buy the kit from them you get cs, images, paper, ribbon and instructions!

She has all kinds of other cool kits too, check them out!

And my DD's boyfriend has a birthday coming up, so I made him a card. I'm sure he never looks at my site, so I don't think I'll be giving anything away!

Inside is a funny Groucho quote and another stamp of Groucho.
Hopefully he will like it!

That's it for now!

Moleskine Journal Pages

These pages are done with a pen and watercolour pencil. I belong to a group called Everyday Matters, and they have a list of 216 things (so far) to draw. So if it says EDM# it is one of the things from the list!

Altered Book pages

On my ABCanada group we are challenging each other with ATCs that we make and send to each other, then we use the ATC we received on an altered book page. I'm devoting a whole altered book to these challenges. Here are two of those pages:

This theme was "numbers", we could make any ATC as long as it had at least one number in it. The ATC was made by Pauline

The theme for this one was "white on white"

Here is a close up of the ATC.
This ATC was made by Mary-Beth.
