WOYWW # 592

Another Wednesday, time to peek at each others desks and projects! If you want to know what WOYWW is, just go to http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/p/what-is-woyww.html  and all will be revealed!

Greetings to everyone! Our first October post (wait - what happened to September? Time goes by so fast these days!) I've been bitten by the card making bug lately. I may even have enough Christmas Cards this year to send out!

Here was my desk yesterday morning:

But I have been busy!

Here are my new toys that just arrived. I've heard so many good things about these make-up brushes and stencils, I hope they work the way everyone says they do! (I've tried them out since writing this, they are awesome!!!)

Here are some cards I made this week. I was inspired by a couple of you-tube Stampin' Up videos by the Australian couple Kylie and Bruno Bertucci. I'm not normally a fan of SU stamps, once in awhile I see something I like, but their paper and inks are really nice. And I like their card ideas!

This one is called Scrappy Scrap or something like that, I thought it was a great way to use up Christmas paper scraps from last year:

This idea came from them as well, although it is an old technique. I often forget about those old techniques that I should be using! This stamp is from Viva Las Vegas. I got it in a grab bag (I love those grab bags!) and never did find a way to use it that I liked until now!

and this one with the same technique:

They called it "Joseph's Coat technique.

This next one was inspired from a card my local SU representative sent me when I asked for a catalogue. I made this one and the next one. (without realizing it I used a SU snowman stamp!)

You can see how the middle part opens up

I think I will make several more using these 2 techniques!

Hubby and I walked down to the lake (Ontario) on Sunday, and I snapped this view between two trees.

I also harvested the catnip on the weekend. It took the cats about 5 minutes to find where I had hung it up to dry!

Here is Queen Inky on her throne, saying "have a wonderful week, everyone!"

And that goes for Mittsy and me as well!

Hi Linda. My word - enjoy all those new bits and pieces. Are they all brushes?? I like the cards with all the scraps! Brilliant use of those left overs. Hadn't heard of the Joseph's coat technique. It's very effective. Well done to hubby for the walk to the lake. I gather his hips are working just fine! Is it far to Lake Ontario from your home?
Take care. God bless.

Hi, Linda!

I love the Joseph’s Coat technique. I’ll have to look it up.
Thanks for sharing it. I made a card using a similar scrap technique for a Christmas challenge using stripes! Only one Christmas scrap though. Used foiled and glitter off cuts.

Love those “happy “ kitties! They should be really happy by now!

Stay safe and Happy Wednesday!

Kathryn

Linda, your cards are lovely! I love them all! I am not a great card maker and haven't really been a Stampin Up fan either, but like you said, every once in a while, you'll find a goody! I love your "brought back" techniques. Really pretty! I miss having Kitties and it looks like yours are "basking" in the moment! LOL Blessings for the rest of your week! Felicia, #27

enjoy the brushes! I have a love-hate relationship with card making these days, and keep saying I'll not make my own Christmas cards each year... then do! LOVE that photo of the trees and the lake! have a good week Helen #1

A great set of cards Linda, the scrap strips idea is cool. Inky and Mittsy certainly seem to like the catnip lol. These brushes are great aren't they, I love mine but I only have them in one size. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

Those scrappy stripping cards are on my 'to do' list - But now I think I will have to add the 'Jacob's coat technique'. Those cards are gorgeous!
I had sort of dismissed Stampin Up - but then I have discovered a SU lady nearby (and she has given me a few samples to say thank you for making an order. Then a friend in Queensland has started selling it... Looks as though I will have to invest a little!
Happy WOYWW! Susan #7

I have a set of those brushes but still haven't quite got around to trying them...., I’m very pleased though, that you think they’re great, that means aI wont have to do too much trialling, which I’m not great at. I let Shaz Silverwolf do all that!! Love that you’re using older techniques, the cards are fab. It’s a problem isn’t it, the techniques seem to stack in the brain so you only use the top few...if they spread out fully, you could remember to use all of them at just the right times! Hmm, that may be the sort of brain training that is very difficult! Love to see the cats round the catnip so soon, it is incredible stuff isn’t it. I wonder who worked it out!

Hi Linda, laughing at Julias comment above! The brushes are fab, aren't they. I don't think I'll ever go back to my blending tools- sorry Tim! One tip- you don't need to wash them after every use, just scrub the head onto a dry microfibre cloth, it takes all the excess ink off. I've gone from using purple to yellow with the same brush doing that, and had no colour contamination.A fabulous selection of cards, all gorgeous. I've never really gotten into SU, I think I have 3 or 4 of their stamps, thats all. Laughing too at the cats tracking down the catnip.Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5. X

Hello Linda, who knew that make up brushes would get more use in my craft cave than on my face, where I just use my hands! Love your card designs too. Take care, best wishes and hugs, Sue. #21 xx

Just getting around the blogs, Linda - really behind this week because I've been in a hurry to complete the 2 needle books. You have been a busy girl this week, haven't you! Gorgeous cards and stamps. I haven't tried the make up brushes - I have some Inkylicious Ink Dusters which work really well. I have a few SU stamps (mostly sentiments) and like you, I do like their card ideas. It's always a good thing to return to old techniques once in a while - one tends to forget, doesn't one. Love Queen Inky on her throne lol! It looks very luxurious with the carpet.

Thank you for your comment and your kind words about my changed appearance!! I must say I prefer myself this way, too. As for the wheelchair, I have ME and suffer from rapid fatigability of muscles, muscle weakness and balance problems, so I use it when out and about, but not at home. I can always guarantee a comfy seat if I'm out (I don't do well on hard upright chairs so eating out without the wheelchair isn't good). Since going whole-food plant-based I'm definitely better than I've been for a long time and have fewer bad days these days.

I'm glad you like the tiny carpets - I have now completed the first 2 needle books and will be blogging about them this week. I am glad you have access to some apples. We have been absolutely inundated this year with huge numbers, and a lot of them have been massive, too! I would be very interested to hear how you use apple butter. I've got a recipe for it and would like to know more about it.

Lily and Ruby say meow and purr-purr to you and Inky and Mittsy, and I say happy belated WOYWW!
