WOYWW #596

Another Wednesday, time to peek at each others desks and projects! If you want to know what WOYWW is, just go to http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/p/what-is-woyww.html  and all will be revealed!

Greetings everyone! I hope everyone is well, and happy! Here is a look out my window on Nov 1 - I want to take the same picture on the 1st of every month, just to see the passage of time...

This is my desk:

The Graphics 45 pages were from a Steampunk Paper collection and an Alice in Wonderland collection. I cut them all up so that would use them. I've had these books for many years, and never used them!

I spent the weekend cutting up all of my many 12X12 scrapbook paper books to 6X6 size (I rarely use paper larger than that) and put it all in this box:

and kept some 12x12 papers that wouldn't cut in quarters well
Why did I do this you ask? Because I had a huge drawerful of books and individual papers that I NEVER used. Or very rarely anyway.

Searching through those big books for a paper I liked was cumbersome and took a very long time, so I didn't bother. Which meant I had a ton of paper I didn't use. So now, I can flip quickly through the box of papers to find something I like and will use. I don't do 12x12 scrapbooks, so I don't need huge background papers. It was fun re-acquainting myself with every single piece of paper I have!

I kept my 8X8 books intact, as I only have a few.

I also re-discovered my Graphics 45 books, and as you saw on my desk, cut those up too. I am now much more likely to use those in my journals.

I also have 2 boxes of scraps to use, one for large and one for very small. I think I'm set!

I did make a couple of Christmas Cards:

This one used some SU paper, my new SU dies, and a die that I got for Christmas last year from hubby. The die cuts are backed by a rectangle of burlap that I found.

This one also uses SU paper and die cuts, and a stamp by Stampa Rosa

I was cleaning my office last week and found a box of treasure! Wow! It was like Christmas! I think this is where I found the burlap pieces I used on the card.

Halloween was a big success, we had more kids than usual, and everyone was doing "safe Halloween" - social distancing, masks, and there were even some candy shutes and candy "canons" at some houses! Here was our set-up: Everyone got a "hand" full of candies, and a bag of potato chips (crisps).

Hubby's pumpkin

Hubby waiting for kids with his Vodka Cooler...

It got very cold and windy and we ended up in the car!

And this is what Inky does when I let her into my craft room: Her favourite spot to find new "toys"!

So that's it for me today, Inky and Mittsy say "meow" and I say "have a great week!"

(not really Mittsy but looks almost just like her!)

I think we all struggle with organization - and it usually boils down to finding what works for you in your space. I, too, have a ton of paper and need a way to tame it. Not found exactly the right method yet... :D

Happy WOYWW!

I thought that was Mitsy LOL - I often see cats that look just like Oreo! I can see the attraction in cutting up your scrapbooking papers, but what if one day you still need 12 X 12? But you're right, you're more like to use them this way in your journals and they're much easier to handle and store. Hmm, something to think about! Happy Wednesday! zsuzsa #19

Linda I don't do scrapbooking AT ALL, so that would have been exhausting for me! LOL But looks like you got it all organized and those papers will make great backgrounds for whatever project you have! Tooo funny that you found that box of goodies! Yay for you! Sounds like something I would do! Funny the things we forget about!!! So, happy "new" crafting for you there! LOL I loved your Halloween digs! So, so cute! And listen, hubby had the right idea! LOLOL It was cold here too and I just had on leggings trying to trick or treat with the nieces and nephews. Phew it was burrrrrrr! Your baby is beautiful! :) Have a great rest of your week! Looks like you’ve been doing a lot of organizing and making your supplies useful. I love your idea to take a photo on the first of the month of the same scene. That will be interesting! Wow, life sure has slowed down since all the closures due to COVID. Have a wonderful week. Dorlene #32

I would say that is good time invested Linda, brilliant recognition about the 12x12 and a great solution. I love G45 but never know what to do with it as 12x12, not really my style to scrapbook with, so I shall admire your works very much. You must be very satisfied with your work!
I love how you arranged the Halloween give always and that you guys sat out to see the kids, that’s so great of you. It just didn’t happen here, which I guess under the circs is the next best thing. By the way, love the view from your window, it will make a great series of pics.

Hi Linda, oh I so get the stacks of DP- I have packs and pads that I've literally had for years, I really need to get them out and get ruthless with them! I think it's got to be a problem as my card making style has changed over the years, and I don't make many cards with it on anymore, except sometimes for Christmas cards! LOve the idea of taking the same photo every month, what an interesting record that will be. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

You certainly have masses of stuff... must take quite a bit of organising.
I love the idea of you taking a pic out of your window on the 1st of every month... I have been thinking that I should have been doing that too as I have watched the changing seasons through my window during the lockdowns. Maybe I'll make a start on that!
Thanks for the nudge!
Take care and stay safe!

I've got my mum's old music cabinet to store my paper in - the shallow drawers have drop-down fronts, and are just the right size for 12 x 12s. The trouble is, your post has reminded me just how much I've got, and how little I am using it!! There is no room in the studio for the cabinet, so it's on the landing. I haven't been working in my studio for weeks because I've been working on the Tiny Carpets. Sweet pic of Inky - Ruby loves the waste bin too and enjoys hooking out scrunched up bits of paper, which she then proceeds to chase around the room! She never puts them back again when she's finished, though. Lily's too much the Lazy Lump to do anything like that - with her it's just head down, and get on with the serious business of sleeping. They send purrs to Inky and Mittsy.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hi Linda, some of those 12 x 12 papers I fin difficult to use too. I made a lot of back to back journals out of mine as quite a few had one side I didn’t like. Unfortunately I can’t see much more than a glimpse of hedge through my craft room window. The caravan blocks the view, but I can’t complain, at least I have a craft room! Angela #20 Sorry for the late visit.

I love your halloween set up! What a good idea to cut the papers so that you actually use them! Sorry for the extremely late visit. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)

I think I must be following Carlo, coz I'm so late too! It's nearly tomorrow and we have to start alover again! Love the pumpkins. Our neighbours went completely mad and had floating ghosts which howled! Your desk looks very busy! Don't think I could cut my papers. I still have some from QVC from years back! But its a good idea! Stay safe, Happy WOYWW?
